For the past 10 years, Design Tech Homes has partnered with Houston Methodist The Woodlands Breast Center to help the women on our team prioritize something that often gets pushed aside: their own health. What began as a personal mission for our owner, Barbara Feigin, has grown into an annual tradition that brings our team together for screenings, shared meals, and time to slow down.

Barbara, a breast cancer survivor, knows firsthand how important early detection can be. After her own journey, she wanted the women at Design Tech Homes to have a regular reminder to pause, care for themselves, and make health a priority. That is how our partnership with Houston Methodist The Woodlands Breast Center started. Each year, Barbara organizes trips for mammograms, followed by lunch and time together.

This year marked a special milestone: our 10th anniversary of the partnership. On National Mammogram Day, the ladies completed their screenings, and Barbara treated current and retired team members to a cooking class at Sur La Table in The Woodlands Market Street. Chef Julian walked the group through making pasta from scratch. Everyone rolled up their sleeves, learned the process, and then enjoyed the meal they had just prepared together. The afternoon included some shopping at the store, giving everyone a chance to unwind and spend time together. The teams at Houston Methodist and Sur La Table went out of their way to make the day feel special and welcoming.

Barbara shared these thoughts with the group:
“As a breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand that mammograms save lives. As women, we are busy working, taking care of our families, and managing day-to-day routines, and we don’t often pause to take care of ourselves. Together we can build a future where taking care of our health is a priority year-round. Stay mindful, stay strong, and remember every day is a chance to thrive.”

We are grateful for the partnership with Houston Methodist The Woodlands Breast Center and for Barbara’s continued dedication to this tradition. Moments like these, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, remind us that taking care of our health is not a one-time event. It is something we can support for each other, year after year.
